Knowledge Dutch Cycling Embassy Support for Non-Profit Sponsorship at Velo-city 2024 28 February 2024 General The Velo-city Conference draws over 1.400 advocates, cities, decision- and policy makers, researchers, and industry leaders from over 60 counties. As the annual flagship event of the European Cyclists’ Federation, Velo-city plays a valuable part in promoting cycling as a sustainable and healthy means of transport for all. While it is known as the world cycling summit, the rising cost of travel and registration makes it an increasingly inaccessible event for non-profit organizations, particularly those that operate in lower-income countries. To help address that inequity, the Dutch Cycling Embassy has introduced a program to sponsor the attendance of a non-profit organization from a country which is classified as economics in transition and or developing economies by region.* In this manner, we hope to create greater accessibility to Velo-City, especially for young people, LGBTQ+, Indigenous, and People of Color, persons with disabilities, and others who are marginalized.
