Knowledge DCE Participates in Chilean Cycling Webinar-Seminar 14 November 2024 Cycling News On Tuesday, November 12th 2024, the Dutch Cycling Embassy (DCE) and one of its network participants, Roxy Tacq of TACQ, delivered presentations for a webinar-seminar titled “El Poder de la Bicicleta.” The event was organised by activists of the Ciclos organisation in Concepción, Chile, and targeted decision makers, professionals, and technical experts responsible for mobility projects in the municipality and region. The webinar-seminar aimed to inspire and guide individuals to become agents of change, promoting new and improved policies to integrate bicycles into the mobility system. To this end, Emma Stubbe of the DCE provided insight into the Netherlands’ development into a cycling country, while Roxy Tacq explained the infrastructure and safety principles used to design high-quality cycling infrastructure and networks in the Netherlands. The event featured further online and in-person presentations by Claudia Toledo, Regional Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism, Mónica Parada, Coordinator of the Roads and Urban Transport Program, and Sílvia Casorrán Martos, General Secretary of REDBICI (Spain). These presentations and discussions addressed current bicycle usage and projects, strategies for growth, the potential to create a full and efficient cycling network, and the possibility of thereby reducing car dependency, to, in turn, further increase space for bicycles and public transportation. The DCE would like to thank Ciclos for the opportunity to present and looks forward to future collaborations.
