Cycling Experts Arjan Breider Mobility has always fascinated Arjan. As a four-year-old, he knew all the brands of his toy cars. Today, his heart beats for sustainable and safe mobility and livable cities, with a main role for cycling. Mobility is both a spatial and human issue. With this blend of engineering and social work in mind, Arjan founded Hart voor Verkeer (Heart for Traffic) in 2008. Together with an enthusiastic team, he explores mobility problems that command broad support. He mainly works for (local) governments (e.g. Amsterdam, Utrecht, The Hague, Rotterdam, Delft, Schiedam, Zeist, Alkmaar and Houten) and knowledge institutes (e.g. CROW, KpVV, Network Child Friendly Cities, Fietsersbond). Arjan is versatile in his role: from manager to project leader, advisor, researcher, coach or lecturer. He is also a broadly orientated generalist in terms of expertise: cycling, active mobility, road safety, sustainable mobility (including shared mobility), intermodality, and consulting in area development and construction plans; from policy advice to the concrete implementation of measures and actions. His motto: a better future through safe and sustainable mobility.
