Knowledge TDA visits Rotterdam 23 October 2019 Cycling News The Dutch Cycling Embassy hosted a delegation of the Transport Decarbonization Alliance last week in Rotterdam. The group consisted of international experts in the field of mobility and transport, from both the public and private sector, so the bike tour, guided by Maurits Lopes Cardozo from BikeMinded, was focused on Rotterdam’s zero emission city logistics-initiatives. The tour was unique in the sense that it addressed not only zero-emission cycling-related solutions, but also paid attention to LEVV and electric trucks for waste management. After picking up the bikes, the group cycled to the Markthal to start with a lunch and a visit to the parking/expedition garage. The next stop was at Cycloon Fietskoeriers, where Cycle Spark, Fietsdiensten.nl, Cycloon Fietskoeriers.nl, Pic Nic, Dockr and Centaur pitched their services and product and provided the group with the opportunity to try the vehicles personally. Mrs. Mariette van Empel from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management joined the group at this point and briefly addressed the Ministry’s ambitions. The last stop was Roteb, the organization leasing out vehicles to the City of Rotterdam for (amongst other things) picking up waste. Paul van Emmerik from Roteb explained the current way Roteb is working towards a zero-emission fleet and addressing the current challenges. It was fruitful to show the full range of initiatives striving for zero-emission city logistics happening in Rotterdam.
