On November 7-8, Emma Stubbe of the Dutch Cycling Embassy (DCE) attended and presented at the Symposium on Sustainable Tourism Mobility in Austria. Organised by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Climate Action, this event brought together key stakeholders from the transport, mobility, and tourism sectors in Europe.

During the symposium, Emma spoke about the role of cycling in active mobility and the effectiveness of shared bike systems in the Netherlands.

The event also featured the unveiling of an inspiration document developed by the members of the PEP Partnership on “Sustainable Tourism Mobility.” (https://unece.org/thepep/tourism) This document offers practical recommendations and case studies on advancing sustainable mobility in tourism at the national level.

In addition to cycling promotion, the symposium focused on long-distance train travel and active mobility, fostering an interactive and dynamic dialogue among participants. The aim was to explore innovative solutions and collaborative efforts to enhance sustainable tourism practices.

The DCE’s insights and contributions were well-received, underlining our commitment to promoting sustainable transportation solutions worldwide.
