Sharing Dutch Inspiration with Guernsey

1 July 2020

DCE shares expertise and inspiration with public and politicians on the Channel Island of Guernsey.

On July 1, 2020, Marketing & Communication Manager Chris Bruntlett provided a (virtual) keynote to decision makers on the Channel Island of Guernsey. Following the DCE’s work on the nearby Balliwack of Jersey earlier in the year, local advocates wanted to make the case for better cycling conditions, especially as the island experiences unprecendeted growth in walking and cycling during the COVID crisis. The event, sponsored by Deloitte and the Guernsey Bicycle Group, was attended by 100 members of the public and politicians. It explained the historical context of Dutch cycling culture, the principles behind infrastructure design, and the many benefits that result from the levels of cycling seen in the Netherlands.
