Premiere Screening of ‘When We Cycle’

7 June 2024

On 5 June 2024, the eve of the National Cycling Congress, When We Cycle premiered, the third part of the Why We Cycle docuseries.

In the 2017 documentary Why We Cycle, filmmakers Gertjan Hulster and Arne Gielen (Nieuw & Verbeterd) showcased the magic of cycling in the Netherlands. Part two, Together We Cycle, explored how the Netherlands transformed into a true cycling nation. The third part, When We Cycle, delves into the question of how to sustain the magic of cycling.

Following the documentary screening, DCE’s Project Manager Shelley Bontje moderated a panel discussion with speakers Angela van der Kloof (Mobycon), Henk Swarttouw (ECF), and Arne Gielen and Gertjan Hulster (Nieuw & Verbeterd).

The next screening will take place at the International Velo-city Conference in Ghent, Belgium. We invite all Velo-citizens to come watch this excellent documentary on June 19th, from 17:15 – 18:15, followed by a Q&A session from 18:15 – 18:30!
