Knowledge Learning to “Embrace the Bike” in London 1 December 2020 Cycling News Dutch Embassy in the UK, London Cycling Campaign and the DCE organized the webinar “Embracing the bike”. The aim of the event was to connect councillors and council officers with Dutch and British transport experts to exchange knowledge about successfully implementing walking and cycling schemes. The webinar was chaired by LCC’s Chief Executive Ashok Sinha and Will Norman gave an inspiring keynote speech about the silver lining of covid. With the absence of cars on the streets in London, the number of cyclists increases. Will pointed out his vision on how to retain this shift. The second part of the webinar consisted of five workshops given by representatives from Royal HaskoningDHV, Humankind, Transport for London, Wittenveen+Bos, Mobycon, JoyRiders, Decisio and London Boroughs of Richmond & Wandsworth. The themes varied from communication with the community, the shift from temporary to permanent infrastructure, the design of low-traffic neighbourhoods, supporting communities to discover new infrastructure and how to put people first on the high streets.
