Knowledge Infrastructure Training Course in Utrecht 14 July 2022 Cycling News During the week of July 4th, 2022, Dutch Cycling Embassy network participant DTV Capacity Building are hosting a five-day bicycle infrastructure training course from their head office in Breda. The course aims to teach designers, policy makers, and mobility professionals the basics of the renowned CROW (Netherlands Institute for Traffic Engineering Policy and Research) Design Manual for Bicycle Traffic. On the second day of the course, attendees from Australia, New Zealand, Luxemburg, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, and the USA joined DTV’s Teije Gorris at CROW’s head office in Utrecht. There Dutch Cycling Embassy Marketing and Communication Manager Chris Bruntlett provided an overview of cycling in the Netherlands, the role of the Dutch Cycling Embassy overseas, and specific examples of global cities attempting to transfer these policies and ideas to their context. Then Project Manager Hillie Talens ran through the fundamental principles of the CROW Manual, and took the group for a walking tour of the city, highlighting the various types of infrastructure seen there. We wish the participants the best of luck in their remaining time in the Netherlands, and their task of applying what their learn in their respective towns and countries. If you’re interested in learning more about the CROW Manual from DTV Capacity Building, sign up for a free webinar, which takes place on the last Thursday of each month.
