Knowledge European Control Conference in Stockholm 3 July 2024 Cycling News On June 25, 2024, Shelley Bontje, Project Manager at the Dutch Cycling Embassy, was invited to participate in the Sixth Workshop on Autonomous, Connected, and Electrified Mobility Systems: Humans in the Loop? held during the European Control Conference at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. The session featured seven in-depth presentations from field experts, addressing the crucial question of how to keep humans involved in the development of autonomous, connected, and electrified (ACE) mobility systems. From a technical perspective, they discussed socio-technical and control problems and the individual user-level up to the transportation-system-level, focusing on the interaction between different modes of transportation, and how they can be integrated to develop safe and efficient intelligent transportation systems. Overall, the goal of the workshop was to provide researchers in control with an overview of current and future mobility challenges to be addressed by our community, and, at the same time, exchange results, ideas and visions on how our community can contribute to sustainable and human-centered mobility systems and, ultimately, our society. The event concluded with a Q&A session moderated by Mauro Salazar of TU Eindhoven. Amongst one was, “How can we design human-centered and sustainable mobility systems that integrate ACE technologies?”. A warm thank you to the organisers for having us.
