On Tuesday, March 31st, the global cycling community gathered—virtually—for the first online conference of its kind: Digital WorldBike 2020. Organised by Berlin-based MeetYoo Conferencing and hosted by legendary sports cyclist Jens Voigt, the free conference offered over 40 speakers who delivered keynotes, provided insights, and participated in panel discussions. The afternoon program offered three themed stages: Sport, Tech, and Mobility. The Dutch Cycling Embassy’s own Chris Bruntlett joined the latter, participating in an engaging panel discussion with Fietsersbond Director Saskia Kluit; moderated by journalist and former racing cyclist Marijn de Vries. These three stages culiminated in a final, 45-minute panel discussion about “The Future of Urban Mobility”, which included Chris, Saskia, Marijn, and four other panelists from Nigeria, Germany, Israel, and Belgium. Overall, the online feedback was incredibly positive, with over 7,000 people attending the event. All of the talks will be archived (for free) on the Digital WorldBike website for the month of April.
