Knowledge Denizli Metropolitan Municipality (Turkey) Delegation in Utrecht 11 June 2025 Cycling News On Wednesday the 28th of May, the Dutch Cycling Embassy had the pleasure of welcoming a Turkish delegation with a strong interest in sustainable mobility and cycling infrastructure. Emma Stubbe kicked off the visit with a presentation on the Dutch approach to cycling infrastructure, highlighting how the Netherlands has cultivated a strong culture of active mobility through thoughtful planning and forward-thinking policy. She was followed by Teun Zeegers from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (IenW), who offered further insights into national strategies and how cycling is integrated into broader mobility frameworks. In addition, he discussed EU frameworks, funding opportunities, and possibilities for international collaboration, giving the delegation a clear picture of how cycling policy is embedded within wider European mobility initiatives. The delegation included key representatives such as Dr. Tijen Iğci, Head of Department for EU Investments at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, and Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu of Denizli Metropolitan Municipality, accompanied by senior officials from both the ministry and local government, as well as experts from Sistem Global and MOVE Mobility. The visit proved to be a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas, share best practices, and explore future collaboration in promoting active and sustainable urban mobility.
