Celebrating Cycling through Connection: Dutch Cycling Embassy at the Orange Bike Ride in Luxembourg

25 September 2025

On 19 September 2025, the Netherlands Embassy in Luxembourg, together with ProVelo Luxembourg and with support from cycling advocate Stein van Oosteren and the Dutch Cycling Embassy, organised the Orange Bike Ride through the city of Luxembourg.

The event brought together local residents, cycling enthusiasts, and members of the international community to celebrate cycling culture and connections between The Netherlands and Luxembourg.

The evening began at the iconic Gëlle Fra monument, where participants gathered, donned bright orange t‑shirts to mark the occasion and the Dutch connection, and set off on a festive ride through the city. Guided by ProVelo, the group enjoyed a scenic tour that included a short stop at the Dutch Ambassador’s Residence for refreshments and networking before continuing on to Kinepolis Kirchberg.

At the cinema, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands welcomed the participants and introduced the evening’s programme alongside moderator Stein van Oosteren. The documentary Together We Cycle was screened, showcasing how cycling became an integral part of Dutch daily life and urban planning. A Q&A session with Stein followed, offering reflections on the role of cycling in childhood, in sustainable mobility and in liveable cities.

The evening concluded with a book signing, giving participants the chance to stay for a chat and connect over their shared visions for a more sustainable and cycling-friendly future for Luxembourg.

The Orange Bike Ride in Luxembourg underscored how the bicycle can be far more than a way of getting from A to B: it is a vehicle for community, a catalyst for sustainability, and a bridge between nations. With its contribution to the event, the Dutch Cycling Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to fostering these connections and to carrying the momentum forward.
