Cycling Experts Roel Lenoir Roel knows how to get people on bikes. Whether it is about cycling to work or school or to the gym, he knows all the ins and outs. Born in 1967, Roel holds a degree in econometrics, which means he knows how to analyse effectively, draw connections and make complex issues understandable. He’s comfortable with numbers, but just as happy to put things into words. More than anything, he enjoys helping clients encourage people to travel more sustainably and healthily. In his first job at Rijkswaterstaat, Roel worked on calculations for the Betuweroute and the locks of IJmuiden. He continued in the field of mobility at KPMG, where he contributed to consulting projects on market liberalisation in public transport and the merger between NS Cargo and Deutsche Bahn. Over time, making mobility more sustainable became an increasingly important part of Roel’s work. That’s why he founded 3PM, the Sustainable Mobility Company, in 2012: a consultancy firm that helps employers and governments make mobility more sustainable. Cycling plays a big role in Roel’s life. In addition to those of his family members, he has seven bikes in the garage, and together they cover more kilometres per year than his car. Whenever he hears a freewheel clicking, he always has to look to see which bike is passing by. And if it were up to him, every blog post at 3PM would be about bikes. He truly believes the bicycle is the answer to all the world’s problems. Learn more
