Geert Koops

Geert is an enthusiastic cyclist who works on sustainable mobility policies, including cycling to and from train stations/hubs. Geert’s mission is to make our streets and cities more liveable by creating more space for interaction. Thanks to his background as a Geographer Geert combines spatial insight with deep knowledge of mobility. He applies this knowledge with the aim to give alternatives to the car and give back the streets to the people who live close by. His strength lies in working on complex projects — both in the Netherlands and abroad, including North-America, Asia and Africa — where collaboration with diverse stakeholders and assessing the impact of potential policies were key. Becoming part of a knowledge-sharing network like the DCE aligns perfectly with his drive to bring Dutch knowledge abroad and simultaneously learn from foreign best practices.
