Cycling Experts Ineke Spapé Ineke never could choose: becoming a mobility planner or an urban planner? …. So in the 80’s and 90’s she studied both domains and achieved both degrees. Being inspired by human behavior and how to transform car dependent cities into livable communities for people, she gained knowledge, skills, insights and experiences while working for local and regional communities for a long time. Ineke is especially passionate about cycling and walking, not as a goal, but as a means to enhance people’s feelings, family patterns and social demands within the public realm. For more than 40 years Ineke works as professor in mobility management and the combination of public space & sustainable urban mobility planning. Besides Ineke links the educational world to the ‘real world’ as director of SOAB consultancy in livability and mobility. Over these years she led hundreds of projects for a variety of commissioners: local, regional, provincial and national governments, social housing corporations, educational institutes and developers. She also is a member of several advisory boards in the cycling and walking domain, like FietsParKeur, Nationaal VerkeerskundeCongres and Walk21Europe. As a consultant and as professor, she shared her knowledge and experiences in presentations, workshops, educational projects and practice-oriented consultancy assignments for lots of international authorities all over the world: in South-Africa, Canada, Europe, Australia and China. Inspiring people and showing people potentials through walking and cycling is her personal goal, all those years, but Ineke learned and believes that going abroad always brings in extra dimensions, perspectives and new experiences: it is all about ‘giving’ but also about the willingness ‘to take back’ experiences to The Netherlands!
