Maurits Lopes Cardozo

Maurits Lopes Cardozo works as design advisor specialized in Active Transportation and integrated urban planning and multimodal infrastructure development. Maurits has over 20 years of creative design and engineering expertise and brings a positive and holistic design perspective to the table based on Dutch and international best practices. He plans and designs infrastructure concepts that improve user experience for all modes, car drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, and everyone else using our public space. He has worked on a wide range of multi-modal infrastructure projects of various sizes and complexities. His portfolio includes complex infrastructural objects like (movable)bridges, development of cycling routes and wayfinding, safe crossings and cycling friendly intersections.
Within the Rotterdam City administration, Maurits is both part of the Architect team at the engineering department and the cycling infrastructure team in the Mobility department. He focusses most on feasibility studies and concept development of complex and/or context sensitive design challenges for a wide range of active mobility projects. Together with local teams and professionals Maurits collaborates on designing and engineering safe and attractive cycling networks to enable people to use the bicycle for their daily transportation needs.
