They are the connection between home and work, between family and friends and all of the other people in your life. The train is still the only long-distance mode of transportation that can take passengers to the heart of the city center unhindered, in a sustainable and safe manner. The train has been a unique way to get from place to place for more than 175 years, and that is a source of pride for more than 30,000 NS employees. People want to be able to move around without having to worry. Fast, safe, simple and at any time. NS wants to make this possible and does not limit itself to just trains. NS has developed into a comprehensive service provider, enabling its customers to blend social, business, and recreational goals seamlessly. NS is doing so by operating 106 guarded bicycle parking facilities of high quality, which are affordable and easily accessible. Besides these facilities, NS offers bicycle service points for same-day repair within 32 of these bike parking facilities. To facilitate last mile travel, approximately 26,000 OV Fietsen (public transport bikes) are available for rent on close to 300 locations. NS is continuously working on improving door-to-door travel by applying the newest innovations to their services. Innovations such as ‘Fietstag’ and the new ‘OV Fiets’-lock improve the flow within bike parking facilities and ease the rental process of the OV Fiets, therefore making the Netherlands sustainable and accessible for all.’’
