Participants Groene Metropoolregio Arnhem Nijmegen The Arnhem Nijmegen Green Metropolitan Region is the 4th urbanised metropolitan area in the Netherlands. Located in the east of the country it’s 18 municipalities, with almost 800.000 inhabitants, are working together on improving urban accessibility and sustainable mobility. Its aim is to promote regional cooperation in close cooperation with its triple helix stakeholders. Next to mobility the regional association cooperates on sustainability, urbanisation, living and economic development. The region presents itself as an attractive, easily accessible, and relaxed region with a strong competitive position worldwide. It is a region where people like to live and work in a nice and green environment, and in which companies and organizations are willing to invest in the region’s profile on Health, Energy and Sustainable Mobility. The Arnhem Nijmegen Green Metropolitan Region is widely known for its cycling policy and vast network of cycling super highways. That’s why the region was selected to host the Velo-city 2017. With more urbanisation coming up, the importance of cycling will furter increase. The city of Nijmegen is The Netherlands Cycling City 2016 and has won the European Green Capital Award 2018. In addition, the region is increasingly developing activities and innovations in the field of (sustainable) e-mobility, e.g. through the Clean Mobility Center in Arnhem and the Dutch Bicycle Center in Nijmegen.
