Every day, 160 000 inhabitants of Rotterdam take their bikes. Because the city has wide streets and 600 kilometers of bike lanes, cyclists easily get anywhere. They can park their bikes at the 17.200 sheltered parking spaces and bicycle racks on the street.

Over the past decade, the number of cyclists has increased by 60% in Rotterdam. The goal is to get even more people on the bike, because cycling is healthy: There are less cars on the street which means that the air is cleaner. With the cycling scheme 2016-2018 the municipality wants to offer cyclists even more space enabling them to cycle faster and more conveniently. Cyclists have priority in Rotterdam!
