Susanne Nijman graduated from the Faculty of Human Movement Sciences in Amsterdam in 1999. She first worked at a health insurance company and started as a quantitative researcher at VeiligheidNL in 2002. Most of her research at VeiligheidNL is based on the Dutch Injury Surveillance System (LIS). Her work covers various topics, such as child safety, traffic safety and consumer product safety. She is project leader of several projects, mostly local traffic safety projects for which new registrations of injuries need to be implemented in emergency departments. These registrations form the basis for injury prevention.
