Lucas is working as a senior researcher at the Netherlands Institute for Transport Policy Analysis (KiM) at the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment. He has extensive experience as a researcher at the Netherlands Institute for Social Research (SCP) and the University of Amsterdam, and has also taught at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences in Zwolle. At KiM he focuses mainly on social, cultural, demographic and spatial trends and their influence on mobility, with an emphasis on cycling use and cycling policy. He is also an affiliated researcher at the Urban Cycling Institute of the University of Amsterdam. Lucas is an expert in the latest trends in cycling in the Netherlands and abroad and has extensive knowledge about the impact of cycling policy initiatives.
Lucas holds a PhD-degree in Urban Geography.
