Knowledge Visit Ministry of Transport Luxembourg 23 May 2019 Cycling News On May 21st and 22nd, a delegation from the Ministry of Transport Luxembourg, visited Houten and Utrecht. A group of no less than 25 delegates joined for a two-day program, organized by the DCE, on the subjects of traffic calming and bicycle parking. Houten is an excellent example of reducing car use and limiting speed of cars by using cycling and pedestrian infrastructure, which we went to for ea cycling tour on the first day. André Botermans, international cycling ambassador of Houten, together with Bas Hendriksen of the Loendersloot Groep, guided the delegation through different areas of Houten, showcasing the calming of traffic while stimulating use of the bicycle. On Wednesday the 22nd of May, the group visited the head office of Movares in Utrecht to enjoy a presentation of bicycle parking facilities by Simone Jorink. T`his was followed by Lennart Nout of Mobycon, who spoke about effective ways of traffic calming. The group then went for a tour through the bicycle parking at Utrecht Central Station and witnessed different traffic calming measures in the centre of Utrecht.
