Knowledge Urbanism NZ 2023 Conference 2 May 2023 Cycling News On April 28, 2023, the Dutch Cycling Embassy’s Chris Bruntlett participated (virtually) in the Urbanism NZ 2023 Conference, a collaborative effort between the Urbanism Design Forum (UDF) Aotearoa, NZ Transport Agency (NZTA), and Kāinga Ora. The theme for the two-day event was “Shaping our Urban Legacy,” focused on the country’s continued collaboration for implementing and promoting healthy and resilient communities. The opening plenary on the second day was entitled “”Urban Mobility and Accessibility: Can Place and Movement Really Coalesce?”, during which Chris offered insights into the Netherlands robust cycling culture, and how these lessons might be applied to New Zealand cities, particularly in a post-pandemic world. Panelists included Professor Iain White from the University of Waikato, Sue Evans from Kāinga Ora, Deborah Hume from the NZTA, and Minnie Baragwanath from the Global Centre of Possibility.
