Trade Mission to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

5 December 2022

Late November 2022, the Dutch Enterprise Agency organized a Trade Mission to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The Trade Mission was led by Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Liesje Schreinemacher. The Dutch Cycling Embassy joined this initiative to promote cycling as part of sustainable urban development. Vietnam’s economy is rapidly growing and with that, its need for sustainable solutions. Eurocham organized the Green Economy Forum and Expo (GEFE) to stimulate cooperation between European countries and Vietnam. As urban mobility is a key factor in sustainable development, the DCE emphasized the importance of cycling.

The Dutch Ministry, Embassy in Hanoi, and Consulate General in HCMC celebrated the benefits of cycling and offered to help Vietnam with their cycling ambitions. Considering this, Minister Schreinemacher offered two Dutch-branded bikes to Ho Chi Minh City to be part of the public bike sharing system. As part of a long-term project, we are offering a ThinkBike Workshop to the Department of Transport of HCMC. The workshop will focus on the cycling infrastructure, ambitions, the bike sharing system, communication, and much more. Cycling has a long history in Vietnam and we are looking forward to bringing more cycling happiness to Ho Chi Minh and the rest of Vietnam!
