Knowledge ThinkBike Workshop Atlanta 23 October 2023 Cycling News On October 16th and 17th, 2023, the Dutch Cycling Embassy was in Atlanta for a ThinkBike Workshop hosted by the City of Atlanta and supported by the Netherlands Consul General. In addition to Chris Bruntlett from the Dutch Cycling Embassy, it featured experts Lucas Snaije from BYCS and Matthew Bearden from Arcadis. They focused on the topics of network and infrastructure design, as well as community and stakeholder engagement. The event unofficially got underway on Saturday the 13th with a fundraising cycling tour of the Beltine organized by the Netherland-American Foundation. Then on Monday morning, after introductions from the Dutch Cycling Embassy and a screening of Together We Cycle, the Dutch experts presented best practice in a series of plenary sessions. After a lunch break, the two case studies were introduced, and breakout groups then visited the chosen neighbourhoods and spent the rest of the afternoon working through potential design solutions. Tuesday morning was spent rotating between plenary and breakout sessions, concluding with each group presenting solutions and answering questions. The workshop was closed with words from Consul General Jaap Veerman. We look forward to continuing to work with City of Atlanta in the future to ensure the successful implementation of these Dutch-inspired projects.
