Knowledge Swedish Cycling Cities Keynote 19 October 2022 Cycling News On October 19, 2022, the Dutch Cycling Embassy’s Chris Bruntlett participated (virtually) in the two-day “Swedish Cycling Cities” autumn conference in Växjö, Sweden. Organized by the public-private network organization Svenska Cykelstäder, the event was focus on several themes that are relevant to bicycle infrastructure planning around Sweden. The keynote was entitled “Building the Cycling City: The Dutch Blueprint for Urban Vitality”, during which Chris offered insights into best practice in Netherlands, including network planning, traffic calming, intersection design, and safety education. The keynote was followed by a Q&A with the participants. In the session following, attendees broke into groups to strategise how to adopt these methods in Swedish regions, in order to get more people to choose the bicycle in their localities.
