Knowledge Cycling and Road Safety in Southeast Florida 30 January 2023 Cycling News From January 31st to February 3rd, 2023, the Dutch Cycling Embassy visited Southeast Florida to participate in a program focused on the topic of cycling and road safety. Working in cooperation with the Netherlands Consulate-General in Miami, DCE Marketing and Communication Manager Chris Bruntlett joined Teije Gorris from network participant DTV Capacity Building for exchanges with the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Authority (TPA), Miami-Dade Transportation Planning Organization (TPO), and Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). In addition, on Wednesday, February 1st, The Underline—which was the site of a 2015 ThinkBike Workshop—hosted a public screening of the documentary film ‘Together We Cycle’, followed by a panel discussion with several local decision makers. The next day, on Thursday, February 2nd, Chris and Teije moderated a workshop on cycle network design at the 10th annual Safe Streets Summit in Broward County; made possible through a sponsorship by EXP. Paul Huijts, Secretary-General for the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also joined the program for a portion of the day. We were grateful for the opportunity to return to Southeast Florida and set the stage for a follow-up ThinkBike Workshop later in 2023.
