Saskia Zwiers

With over eight years experience in the field of cycling, Saskia Zwiers is an experienced bicycle policy maker. Saskia started her bicycle career in 2012 by launching the Cycling City Groningen campaign and renewing the pride that citizens have for their bicycle culture. Saskia currently works for the Province of Groningen on a unique position. Being the only ‘Fietsmakelaar’ (Bicycle Agent’) in the Netherlands, she helps the 10 municipalities in Groningen to get cycling on their agenda. For more than four years, Saskia Zwiers has been supporting the municipalities in the coordinated implementation of infrastructure measures, bringing together various local actors to implement measures to promote cycling, providing inspiration, knowledge, tools and contacts.

Next to this ambassador’s role, Saskia has wide knowledge of communication campaigns to promote cycling among diverse target groups. With a background in both Communication and Spatial Science, Saskia is easily able to spread the joy for cycling.
