Niels van Oort

Niels van Oort is associate professor at Delft University of Technology and is actively involved in both teaching (BSc and MSc courses) and research, concerning the cycling+transit combination. With his team (the Smart Public Transport Lab) consisting of cycling, shared mobility and public transport experts, he investigates network design and current and future behavior and preferences of cycle+transit users. He identified key factors to stimulate this mode by integrated design and planning. In addition to sharing research findings and knowledge via papers and articles, Niels provides training and workshops to planners, engineers and researchers involved in the field of public transport and cycling. He frequently speaks at (inter)national conferences and supervises many Master students and PhD-candidates.
