Melissa Bruntlett is a sustainable mobility consultant with nearly 15 years’ experience in the field of mobility advocacy for more equitable walking, cycling, and public spaces. She uses her knowledge and experience to help partners and clients understand how a just and sustainable mobility transition needs to start from a place of empathy and recognising the varied needs of people. Melissa has co-authored two books, Building the Cycling City: The Dutch Blueprint for Urban Vitality and Curbing Traffic: The Human Case for Fewer Cars in Our Lives, and is currently researching and writing a third book focused on women’s role as leaders in sustainable urban transformations. Since 2022, Melissa has also been a Women Mobilize Women ambassador, supporting the growth of an international network of women working in transport, sharing knowledge, mentorship, and just transition solutions. Melissa’s work focuses on encouraging professionals and leaders to think differently about the people who make up their communities to build awareness of why an empathetic approach to mobility is necessary to create inclusive cities.
