After a study tour and workshop on cycling for Ecuadorians in The Netherlands as well as the creation of a Road map for Ecuador to mainstream cycling, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador requested the Dutch Cycling Embassy to organise a workshop on cycling-inclusive planning in Ecuador. Jeroen Buis (JB Mobility) gave a two-day workshop for about 50 participants in the Ecuadorian coastal town of Esmeraldas. Many topics were covered such as cycling-inclusive planning, road user behaviour, road safety for cyclists, infrastructure design and  the creation of pilot projects. The audience, consisting of mostly people from Esmeraldas, was enthusiastic and the two-day workshop was completed with a cycle ride out of town, led by the mayor of Esmeraldas.
