Cite de Nantes 2015

Country: France, Activity: Presentation/Speaker/expert

With your guide to Cycling as its motto, the Dutch Cycling Embassy took part in Velo-City 2015, held in Nantes (France). It focused on innovative themes, such as fast bike lanes, parking facilities, bike sharing schemes, creative infrastructural solutions for congested streets and cities, bike and travel simulations, data measurement tools and, of course, beautiful Dutch design bikes. At Velo-City, DCE had prepared stands for public and private organisations from the Netherlands, like Heijmans (of the Van Gogh bike path), the provinces of Utrecht and Gelderland, the cities of Amsterdam, Arnhem and Nijmegen, Bough Bikes, Falco, Jan Kuipers-Nunspeet, Fietsdiensten.nl, Calllock, Ring-Ring, DTV Consultants, Royal HaskoningDHV, NHTV and Berenschot. See for more information in our brochure Your Guide to Cycling. Many Dutch cycling experts addressed the three-day seminar. At the closing ceremony, Ms Conny Biezen (delegate of the province of Gelderland) presented some of the bike promotion activities undertaken in the Netherlands. She explained why the country can be proud of its bicycle culture. She ended by wishing Taiwan every success in the organisation of the 2016 Velo-City in Taipei. The Netherlands has been selected to organise the 2017 Velo-City. Expectations are high. A delegation from the cities of Arnhem, Nijmegen, Groningen and Amsterdam and from the provinces of Gelderland, Utrecht and North Brabant were in Nantes, as part of the preparations for 2017.
